Passmores Academy celebrate the hard work and achievement in their caring community

Education: Secondary / Thu 23rd Aug 2018 at 12:55pm

STUDENTS, staff and families flocked to Passmores Academy on Thursday morning to receive their exam results.

There was a great hub-bub in the gym as they reviewed their results, the fruit of a lot of hard work.

Principal Vic Goddard said: “The Passmores community is delighted with the outcome of everyone’s hard work today shown by the GCSE results received by our young people.  English is a real strength of the school, as borne out by our recent Ofsted inspection, and the number of students receiving a pass has gone up again to 68% with maths remaining stable from last year.

“So much has been said in the press about how hard the new GCSEs were in almost every subject and how few top grades will be issued so we are really pleased to say that has not been the case at Passmores. In fact, subjects such as child development, creative media, drama, history, photography and graphic design saw a significant increase and overall the students received almost 150 top grades (equivalent to the old A grade or better).

The young people in the picture above were our top achieving students with Ryan Draper and Vaneeza Farooq being the highest performing with 17 top grades between them.

There is no doubt that those that worked the hardest and took the extensive opportunities to extend their knowledge and skills got the results they deserved which is how it should be.

Every year is different so comparing year to year never works so we strive to make sure that we get the best possible results with the young people that we have. The staff and governors are so proud of what our young people achieved but most importantly we are proud of who they have become.

“

Being able to give out the results to our students knowing that they have achieved the grades required to take the next step in their lives is amazing; what makes that even more satisfying is knowing that throughout their journey at Passmores they have also been given the opportunities to excel at sport, drama, dance, art and so many other things.

“The grades are the summit of a magnificent educational journey at Passmores.”
