Do you know who is taking away your rubbish?
Last week someone dumped all this household rubbish on Harlow Common.
Before Harlow Council arranged to get it cleared, its officers had a good look through it and found a number of addresses within the rubbish.
As a result the officers issued three £80 fixed penalty notices.
If you arrange for someone to take away your rubbish and they fly-tip it you could be fined.
You should check first that the company you are using has a waste carriers licence:
https://environment.data.gov.uk/public-register/view/search-waste-carriers-brokers
You can report fly-tipping to the Council at www.harlow.gov.uk/report
You can also book a heavy squad collection online (the Council takes large electrical items for free and they have a waste carriers licence) at www.harlow.gov.uk/report
Great bit of detective work by local officers. £80.00 seems a little cheap, but better than nothing.
Micky - it was 3 x £80 - still too cheap, should be £500 min for each count.
OK, I'm confused. Three people's rubbish? dumped independently or together? I.e. by them or a contractor? If they all used one person or business to take their rubbish away, we should be looking for who actually dumped it, and a much larger fine being issued..
Mmm, at least Harlow Council asked before using my photo.
It is fine though!
