Education: Secondary / Thu 15th Nov 2018 am30 11:36am
A NEW display of ceramics produced in artist-led workshops by pupils from St Albans and St Luke’s primary schools and Harlow College will go on show at the Gibberd Gallery. The all-welcome family-focused launch is on Saturday 17th November from 12-3pm. Participating children will be awarded prizes by special guest judges at 12.30pm, and a free creative workshop starts at 1pm.
The display forms part of the second annual Sculpture Town Artist in Residence (STAIR) exhibition by Paloma Proudfoot (born 1992). Proudfoot graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2017 and works primarily in ceramics, clothes-making and site-specific installation. Her exhibition takes inspiration from the pottery produced in Harlow in the 1600s. Titled Metropolitan Wares, it includes items loaned from Harlow Museum and Proudfoot’s own new and developing artwork in ceramics and clothes-making.
