Big-hearted Sonny helps Harlow’s homeless

IT looks like Harlow is in good hands if there are more six-year-olds like Sonny.

Last week, Sonny was walking to Freshwaters Primary school with his mother Katy, when he saw homeless people asleep. Sonny was very upset. The next week, when he wrote his letter to Santa, he asked if Santa could bring the homeless people houses.

Sonny’s mum, Katy took up the story. She said: “It touched my heart but also broke it because well I know that isn’t going to happen.

“So I showed Sonny the Streets2homes website so he could see that people do help them, he then took it upon himself to write a letter asking for help.

“Sonny showed his letter to the teacher at Freshwaters and asked if his class would help him.

“His teacher sent the letter to the head, Mrs Dias, who decided to share the letter with the whole school.

At the end of term we collected all the lovely donations and took them to Streets2homes where Kieron Mitchell (operations manager) gave Sonny a tour and explained how they help and was very grateful for Sonny’s help.

“I am exceptionally proud of his huge heart and Sonny wants to continue to help local charities in the new year”.

On behalf of all of us at YourHarlow,, well done Sonny.
