Improvements continue on Netteswell Pond
News / Tue 21st May 2019 at 03:51pm
IT’S been a busy few months at Netteswell Pond, as work continues to improve the area for visitors and wildlife.
Following the desilting and landscaping works things are really beginning to take shape:
Eight new fishing swims have been installed.
A hedge has been layered to provide a secure and secluded area for ducks and other waterfowl to nest.
Seven new benches have been installed including the return of a refurbished memorial bench.
Eight new signs have been installed.
Extensive areas of bare soil have been seeded with grass and extensive areas of silt have been seeded with wildflowers.
Security fencing is up around the site to protect people from straying onto the silt (which appears dry enough to walk on but in places is still very wet), areas which have been seeded from being trampled before it can become established and the new fishing swims which aren’t quite ready for use yet.
This fencing is likely to remain in place until autumn.
There are more works planned as part of the project in the coming months and we’ll keep you updated as things take shape.
