ST CLARE Hospice calls on schools and businesses don a jolly jumper for charity

A West Essex and East Herts hospice is calling on local schools and businesses to ‘don a jolly jumper’ in aid of their annual Christmas Jumper Day – to help raise vital funds that pay for essential palliative and end of life care within the community.

St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood will launch its annual Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 13th December 2019, whereby hundreds of local people will dress in their favourite, festive knits to support the cause.

“Every year, our St Clare Christmas Jumper Day raises thousands of pounds to fund care and support for local people living with a life-limiting or terminal illness – and their families,” says Community Fundraising Manager at St Clare, Dani De’ath.

“This year, we want to get as many schools, businesses, and community groups together as possible to take part in this fun and festive event,” explains Dani. “We’ve got big plans at St Clare to extend our care to more local people who need us – but we need to continue raising the money that will help pay for our services. Christmas Jumper Day is such a great way to celebrate the festive season in our local community, all whilst contributing to a vital source of support for people facing death, dying and loss. If you can spread the word in your school, work place or group, to help get your peers and colleagues involved, it would make a huge difference to St Clare and the hundreds of people whose lives we touch!”

St Clare Hospice suggests that participants donate just £1 to the charity for wearing their Christmas jumper – in the same style as a traditional ‘non-uniform’ day at school. If your school, workplace or community group is willing to take part to support your local hospice, please get in touch with the St Clare fundraising team on 01279 77350 or email [email protected]

Dani adds, “Embrace the cheesy jumpers in aid of St Clare this December – the perfect excuse to wear that flashing, festive jumper you have at the back of the wardrobe (that you secretly love)! Whether you encourage your child’s nursey, playschool, primary school or secondary school – or your workplace, local faith group, or community meet-up – we would love to hear from you!”
