Covid-19: Old Harlow school closes after senior teachers fall ill

Education: Primary / Wed 18th Mar 2020 at 12:51am

AN OLD Harlow school has taken the decision to close after members of the senior leadership team have fallen ill.

The following message was placed on the front of the website of Churchgate Street Primary School.

Dear Parents and Carers

As from today (March 17th), we have to take the drastic measure to shut the school for 14 days. At this time the senior leadership team are displaying symptoms and therefore will be self-isolating for a period of 14 days from today. The planned date for return will be April 1st 2020.

We have had no known cases of the Covid-19 virus within our community but we are taking precautions as outlined by the government and Public Health England in their recent announcements.

I will inform you as soon as we have any updates or additional advice from the government or PHE.

This is not a decision we take lightly and we thank you for your continued support and understanding during these difficult times. I know the stresses and strains that this will put on family life; however we have been left with no alternative.

Pupil work packs and online resources will be given out today and sent to those not here.

The main front page on the school website will be updated and keep you in the loop of any changes. We will also continue to use Parentmail to communicate with you.
