Passmores Teacher raises spirits and funds with mega-marathon challenge!
PASSMORES P.E. teacher, Sidnie Sales has achieved the astounding feat of running a marathon and raising thousands of pounds for charity whilst the country remains in lockdown.
Miss Sales took on the challenge of running up and down her street forty-five times, covering twenty-six miles, 385 feet, which is equivalent to running the distance of a full marathon. Neighbours cheered at a safe distance from their windows and gardens as the runner completed the impressive challenge in just over four hours. Not only that, but thanks to the generosity of family, friends, neighbours and her colleagues at Passmores Academy, Sidnie managed to multiply her fund-raising target of £250 by more than ten times, raising a staggering £2771 for The UK Sepsis Trust.
After the event Sidnie said: ‘I still can’t believe how much love and support I got from everyone – it means so much. Not only did I raise so much money for a charity in need, but it also lifted my community’s spirits. Even though it hurt, it was a really lovely day and actually felt like Marathon day. I now have peroneal tendonitis, but it was worth it! Thank you again to everyone that donated, wished me luck, or came to give me a cheer, wave, or beep’.
