Salvation Army officer set to swim 10k in her paddling pool

A SALVATION Army officer is hoping to swim over six miles and all from the paddling pool in her garden.
Karen Sandford has opened up a justgiving page.
Karen said: “I’m a cold-water swimmer, and a Salvation Army officer based in Harlow. I swim in Redricks Lake usually, for fitness and for my mental health, as a member of Team Pants.
“After three weeks in lockdown, I started swimming in the paddling pool in the garden, while attached to the washing line by a tether. So I’m effectively swimming, but not going anywhere. My fitbit has been logging the distances, and I aim to swim at least 10k in the paddling pool while lockdown continues.
This will be in all-weather, and temperatures. Today’s was 11 degrees in the water.
I am swimming to support the work of The Salvation Army in our community of Harlow; particularly those affected by Covid19. The work continues, and people are turning to us more and more for food-bank, and other practical support.
Your kind donation would give me the motivation to ‘Just Keep Swimming’ for 10k and maybe even beyond.
