Woman escapes jail after driving at police officer and crashing into Harlow College gates

A HARLOW woman who pleaded guilty to driving her car at a police officer whilst drunk and the crashing into Harlow College gates has escaped jail.

Zara Chapman, aged 51, of Terminus House, Harlow pled guilty to the following at Chelmsford magistrates court.

On 27/10/2019 at Harlow, used threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress, thereby, and the offence was racially aggravated.

On 27/10/2019 at Harlow assaulted a police constable, an emergency worker, acting in the exercise of her functions as such a worker, by beating her.

On 27/10/2019 at Harlow drove a mechanically propelled vehicle, namely Renault Scenic dangerously on roads, namely Velizy Avenue and Harlow College Car Park.

On 27/10/2019 at Harlow without lawful excuse, damaged Car Park Barrier to the value of £558.98 belonging to Harlow College intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged

On 27/10/2019 at Harlow when suspected of having driven a vehicle and having been required to provide a specimen or specimens of breath for analysis…failed without reasonable excuse to do so.

Chapman was fined £878.00
She was disqualified from driving for two years.
She received a suspended jail sentence of one year.
She was made subject to mental health treatment.
