VJ Day 75: Harlow war veteran Richard Edser passes away
History / Fri 14th Aug 2020 at 08:13am
A HARLOW man who served his country by fighting in the Pacific in World War 2 has died.
YH understands that Richard Edser died on Wednesday aged 94 after a short illness.
In February, YH went down to his home in Quarry Spring to interview Richard and talk about this experiences fighting the Japanese.
It was hoped that Richard would be present at the VJ Day 75 ceremony in Harlow Town Park on Saturday but alas it was not to be.
But we are sure that we all will remember Richard on Saturday and his dedication in service.
Plus Richard gave many hours of his time to speaking at schools and community groups about his time in the navy.
Our sympathies to all Richard’s family.
