Princess Royal visits Citizens Advice Bureau in Harlow

CITIZENS Advice Harlow had the privilege of hosting Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal on Friday 11th of September 2020. The event shone a light on the incredible work of the charity within the Harlow community.

Her Royal Highness, who has been the Patron of Citizens Advice since 1990 was welcomed by the Chair of Trustees, John Barber, the Chief Executive Ayub Khan as well as staff and long standing volunteers.

Her Royal Highness was also welcomed to Harlow by HM Lord Lieutenant, Jennifer Tollhurst, Robert Halfon MP, Harlow and HTS (Property and Environment) Limited, Managing Director, John Phillips.

The Princess Royal held discussions with the Head of Operations, Mhairi Laker Jones, Recruitment and Training Supervisor, Kathryn Claydon, Marketing and Media lead, Addie Adewole, to hear about the work of Citizens Advice Harlow and the complex advice issues they are addressing for residents.

Her Royal Highness presented certificates to three long standing volunteers, Pam Watson for 25 years of service, Mandy Harrison for 12 years of service and Reg Golder for 10 years of service. HRH thanked them for their long standing commitment and valuable contribution to Citizens Advice Harlow and to the people of the community.

Last year Citizens Advice Harlow’s team of highly trained staff and volunteers helped over 3,760 local people providing high quality advice, addressing 11,931 issues from benefits, housing, debt, money management, employment, immigration, education, consumer, family and relationships.

Speaking after the visit, the Chair of Trustees of Citizens Advice Harlow, John Barber said:

“Given her gruelling schedule, to receive a visit from Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal was a huge privilege and morale booster. It proved to be a wonderful opportunity to explain the new ways of working that we have adopted to safeguard staff, volunteers and clients during this most trying of times.”

Chief Executive Officer, Ayub Khan said:

“We were delighted to spend time with our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal. It was a really good opportunity to share with HRH the work we do for Harlow as well as recognise the outstanding efforts of our long standing volunteers and staff”.

Why is it open? When I tried to get advice last thursday . I had to phone and after 30 mins gave up . So my question is the C.A.C open now or not ?
