Popular Passmores teacher takes to the skies in charity skydive challenge

WHAT’S scarier than taking control of a class full of teenagers? Skydiving at 15,000 feet!

But that’s exactly what Assistant Principal of Passmores Academy, Rebecca Conway, will be doing when she bravely goes on a skydiving adventure in aid of charities, No Child Without, and Cancer Research UK.

Although this will be the first time Miss Conway has taken to the skies in this sense, three years ago she took on another charity challenge and abseiled down Church Langley Water Tower. Thanks to the generosity of friends, family and the Passmores community, Miss Conway and two colleagues managed to raise over £900. Pupils and staff at Passmores have been equally as supportive and enthusiastic about the teacher’s latest charity endeavour. Over half of the £500 target was reached within just 24 hours of the Just Giving page going live.

Miss Conway said: ‘Many people in our Passmores community have been impacted in one way or another over the last six months by Covid 19. I have chosen to support No Child Without because it is a charity which helps Harlow’s young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to access opportunities which would otherwise be unavailable to them.

Covid 19 also put cancer research on hold, but this awful disease hasn’t taken a break itself. Donating to this cause would help many people get their lives back on track and may help fund significant breakthroughs in diagnosis, care and cure.

So am I looking forward to this? No! Look out below!’

The event will take place on Saturday, 26th September at the North London Skydive Centre in Cambridgeshire. Watch this space for a further report about what happened on the day.

In the meantime, you can help support both No Child Without and Cancer Research UK by donating via Miss Conway’s Just Giving page:
