HARLOW’S Black History Month has been cancelled due to Covid-19.

Organiser Efua Sey Koi-LarbiI has issued the following statement: “I write with regret, on behalf of the Management of PATACC, the organising company of Harlow Black History Month, and its partners to announce that due to the nationwide increase in cases of Covid-19 and its subsequent government announcement of new guidelines to mitigate the spread of the disease, 2020 Harlow Black History Month Festival scheduled for 3rd October 2020 has to be painfully rescheduled for a later date to be decided.

“PATACC as the event organiser for Harlow Black History Festival has a responsibility for the wellbeing of its staff, volunteers and attendees at the event. PATACC recognises the threat COVID-19 poses and has assessed risk factors.

“In July 2020 when Covid-19 risk assessment for the event was conducted PATACC rated risk as low. A further risk assessment conducted on Friday 25th September 2020 following the government new measures, PATACC has now rated the risk in Harlow as medium and therefore risky to hold the event.
