Letter to Editor: Harlow Council and council tax hike

Politics / Fri 29th Jan 2021 at 02:04pm

Dear Editor,

HARLOW Council has just voted to increase my Council Tax bill yet again – as they have done nearly every year since they won in 2012.

This is disgraceful after the year we’ve had. So many residents have lost their jobs or income and how do our Labour Council help us? By not paying the Government grants to local businesses and increasing our Council Tax bill again.

What is worse, is that the Conservative Councillors showed that Council Tax could be cut and all Council services would not be damaged at all. But the Council ignored this and instead decided to make us pay for their chaos.

I am sick and tired of having to pay more Council Tax when the Council doesn’t do their bit. They lost money to regenerate the town centre and they haven’t paid out the business grants they were supposed to.

Residents need to get rid of them in the local elections this year.
