Letter to Editor: Leader of Harlow Conservatives proud of “biggest council tax cut in history”
News / Wed 9th Feb 2022 at 11:14am

Dear Editor,
LAST week, we delivered the biggest Council Tax cut ever in UK history meaning a £205 Harlow Council Tax cut from your bill this year.
That’s a £55 Council Tax cut from Conservative-run Harlow Council and a £150 Council Tax cut from the Conservative Government.
We promised to do it. We’ve delivered it. And we’re investing hundreds of millions into regenerating our town.
This has been done with no cuts to services, no job losses and no privatisation. In fact, we are investing more in every Council service to improve them for you.
We’ve delivered our promise and now we’re getting on with the job of restoring pride in our town and building back better.
This is what the Conservatives in Harlow deliver, lower taxes and more for your money.
Yours ever,
Cllr Russell Perrin
Conservative Leader of Harlow Council
What a contrast with the inept previous Labour administration, which: *raised council taxes every year, * spent £ millions buying expensive houses on the open market and did not build any council houses for many years, *wasted £ millions on failed projects like Lister House, the monorail, *did no regeneration to the Town Centre, which is an embarrassment to the town, *did not maintain the upkeep of the environment or estates. Finally, we have a Council that will hopefully restore pride in our town and not treat residents as idiots who can be permanently squeezed for fund failure. Well done, Harlow Conservative Council. A great start.
A chancellor from the conservative party forcing loans on to citizens to pay for electric and gas buy now pay later disgusting everybody don't vote in this year's coming election thankyou residents it's immoral forcing loans on people.
I don't want this loan. Pure and simple.
I am pleased to see this assurance: "with no cuts to services, no job losses and no privatisation."
Its not a loan its a fuel levy, every household will have the levy on their fuel. If you have a sibling that moves out into a new property they will pay the levy regardless of not benefiting from the initial payment. Which is even worse when you think about it
I don't want any kind of debt, what if goes up even more, your be for ever in there debt.
Kim O’Connor, what are you talking about? It is a tax cut/rebate. It is not a loan. Suggest you read the article.
Connie educate yourself the conservative s are giving with there right hand and taking with there left just everybody please don't vote in this coming election i said what i needed to say stay safe Kim and don't vote and don't put up with it
