Harlow is 70: Why I Came Here / Tue 15th Feb 2022 at 02:31pm
ACROSS her 42-year career, Princess Alexandra Hospital midwife Naghmeh Teymourian-Yates has delivered 5,500 babies at the Harlow hospital.
Now as she approaches retirement, the 62-year-old (who is also a TV sensation) is taking time to reflect on her journey from Iran in 1978 to present day.
Some may also recognise Naghmeh from the smash TV series Delivering Babies starring Emma Willis.
Otherwise will know and love her as the caring midwife who brought their children into the world.
We went up to the Harlow Playhouse to interview Naghmeh and reflect on the last forty-two years.
We hope you will agree that Naghmeh is such a charismatic and inspirational woman.
It was an absolute pleasure to interview her.
An icon for Harlow. An inspiration to us all.
I knew Naghmeh briefly when I worked in the PAH maternity unit for a couple of years. Lovely jolly lady who was rushed off her feet but always seemed to be smiling and so very dedicated to her job. Seeing her on the Emma Willis documentary was really lovely. Well done to her and happy retirement. X

Over the 14 years we worked together in maternity at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Naghmeh and I became very close. A warm-hearted friend, and a very intelligent, knowledgeable midwife. Wishing her a long and happy well-deserved retirement xx

Naghmeh was on duty when I was admitted to PAH maternity unit when I was induced when I had my daughter 25 years ago, such a lovely lady. I returned 6 1/2 years later when I had my son. Naghmeh remembered me from when I had my daughter, and she put me at ease once again
We watched Naghmeh on Emma Willis: Delivering Babies. She was absolutely amazing and so joyfull to watch. On one episode she had written her resignation letter but didn't give it in. Neghmeh came across as a beautiful lady inside and out
Met Naghmeh on a cruise recently she was such a bubbly person and certainly brightened up our evening meal times . Had lots of laughs with her
