Harlow’s Green Party leader: “Politics should be about helping people”
Elections / Sun 10th Apr 2022 at 12:25pm
BACK in July Jamie Gilbert was the Green Party candidate at the Mark Hall ward by-election.
It was a modest start with just 86 votes but it was a start nonetheless.
This May at the local elections, there are ten candidates. We hope to get round and interview as many of the candidates as possible but we thought we would start with Mr Gilbert.
As you may note they have a raft of policies but at the very least, they want people voters to think about what a Green Party councillor may do for them.
Not so long ago, Harlow was jointly run by the Liberal Democrats. That may be the gap in the political market they are looking to fill.
Our interview is below.
Details of all candidates can be found on our Politics page.
Remember the mess the Green Party made of Brighton.
Brighton love the greens 💚
As I get older, it seems we plod along more or less fine,in spite of our politicians and not because of them. Every area politicians seems to get involved in seems to spiral down the sh@@er. A lot of our politicians are really well meaning too, so I don’t know how they generally make things worse.
Well said Jamie, it's listening to people s voices, letting people know what's going on, before plans take action. We have a voice, and people don't like being ignored, which I feel we have been, referring to our river stort, 6,000signatures, and counting, was all pushed under the carpet. The public must be listened to. Because if there not, they won't stay there long.
Greens lost my support a long time ago with their madcap ideas. One of which Is to side with Scottish nationalist to break up the UK.🤬
What are the Green’s policies to reduce our need for Russian oil and gas? Can we trust them to defend the Free World?
The Greens are indeed anti-Brexit and pro break-up of the UK. In other words, full of hot air. They do not represent a patriotic town like Harlow, which strongly supported Brexit and an independent UK.
Reducing reliance on Russian oil/gas and Brexit are both national politics. We are focused on a local level and what we may be able to offer Harlow as an alternative to the current choices we have here in Harlow. Please head over to our website www.harlow.greenparty.org.uk where you can find out more about our vision for Harlow.
I find the Green Party policies a refreshing change. I like their focus on local issues. I have traditionally supported Labour, but have very disappointed with their performance and with very little in their election literature that is relevant to local issues. They are highly negative. I shall be voting Green this time.
What a great interview!! Jamie always speaks the truth from the heart. No hidden agendas, no games, no messing!! The Harlow Green Party are dedicated to the people of the town. No, cakes, no parties, no lies, no fuss, just good honest policies.
