THE EDITOR of Your Harlow was invited to 10 Downing Street as part of a Local Media Champions celebration.
Michael Casey joined a select group of editors from across the country in an event hosted by the Lucy Frazer MP, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
Ms Frazer spoke to the assembled editors and thanked them for their work in keeping their respective communities informed.
During the reception, Mr Casey had a one-to-one conversation with the minister, where they discussed Harlow and the future of local independent news.
Michael Casey said: “It was an honour to be invited to Downing Street by the minister, to pass through that famous door and discuss the present state and future of news in Harlow and beyond.
“I aways attend events such as this as an ambassador for the town I was born and educated in and hope I can let those at the very top of the government know of our town.”
Mr Casey was joined by editors of the following independent newspapers: John Baron of West Leeds Dispatch. Pat Gamble of West Bridgeford Wire and Dan Ioenscu of The Lincolnite.
He concluded: “All of us will get together with over 200 members of the Independent Community News Network (ICNN) and feedback on what we learned from the reception.
“I would like to thank Harlow MP Robert Halfon as well as all the team at the ICNN for their help in raising the profile of independent news”.
Well done Micheal.
Well done Michael, you gave us local news after our local papers were no longer.
Did you meet Larry the Cat, the only competent one in 10 Downing Street?
Congratulations Michael . Well deserved. X
Yes, good for you Michael - you work hard for Harlow, so that's two of you! We need more (hard work) from those who seek our vote next month.
Nothing at all to do with YH's constant publicity for Our tory MP.
Congratulations Michael, well done and thankyou for your massive contribution to keeping us all up to date with what's happening in and around our town.
Very unfair comment Alex Thomson.
If you would care to look at the large banner on the home page, you will see the largest segment declaring..."ROBERT HALFON WORKING HARD FOR HARLOW". Hardly politically neutral!
