THIS week, Holy Cross Catholic school had a wonderful surprise as the Barclays Premier League trophy arrived at Holy Cross!
This is the first time a school in Harlow has been visited by the Premier League staff and seen the hugely impressive trophy, which is made from solid sterling silver and the crown is plated with 24 carat gold! It weighs over 25 kilograms. We were chosen for the visit because we have used lots of resources from the Premier League primary stars website and Mr Clarke was delighted to be given the great news a few months ago!
Jez Weeks from the Premier League led a whole school assembly, where he showed highlights of the 2022-2023 Premier League season when Manchester City were crowned champions and the children cheered along. He discussed the importance of their four key values (being inspiring, being connected, being ambitious and being fair).
We also learned key facts about the trophy, including why there are three ribbons each side (to represent the shirt, shorts and socks colours of the winning team) and asked some quiz questions about West Ham.
Each class then had the opportunity to have their pictures taken with the prestigious trophy and ask questions. A class from each key stage took part in an exciting football sessions with the coaches Nick Crickmar and Rebecca Trott from West Ham.
This was a very special day. Well done to the children who behaved superbly and were really engaged in the activities.
Teachers a bit close to that girls arm…
