Tributes to John Savident, Coronation Street’s Fred Elliott who had close ties to Harlow

ACTOR John Savident, best known for playing Fred Elliott in Coronation Street, has died aged 86, his agent has announced.
The actor was famous for his booming voice while playing the local butcher on the ITV soap.
John had close links to Harlow as he lived for some years, we believe, in the Foster Street area.
His widow Rona, directed a number of plays for Heath Players and John played a role in a number of productions for Harlow Theatre Company.
Residents with link memories remember seeing on the Potter Street side of town.

Had the pleasure to know the family back when they were in Harlow and shared many a great time with them. Rest in peace John Love to Rona and Romany x
