A MAN has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, following an incident in Harlow Town Centre yesterday.

Officers were called to Harlow Town Centre, outside the library following reports of a member of the public being threatened by a man carrying a knife. The report came in shortly before midday on Friday, 8 March. Officers responded and a man was arrested by 12:10pm.

Christopher Claridge, 30 of no fixed abode has since been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Saturday, 9 March.
