DEVELOPED in response from workshops with women with lived experience of the criminal justice system, the show is set in a residential women’s prison in the UK. We follow our protagonist, Alice, as she encounters four other inmates on her first day in custody. Reflective of real-life stories from women with lived experience of HM Prisons, Release asks if the prison system is working for women through the lens of Alice in Wonderland.
