TWO veteran councillors made their farewell speeches as they step down after decades of service.
Former Harlow councillor Mark Wilkinson (Lab) and former chair Eddie Johnson (Cons) were given the opportunity to say a few words in the last council meeting of the civic year.
I admire everyone who stands to be a councillor. It seems to me to be very hard work with very little thanks, especially as there is usually at least half the people disagreeing with you. Eddie, we have known each other since our Pitney Bowes days (and as Abbotsweld school parents), Mark, I am not aware that we have met. I do say thank you and Good Luck to both of you.
Evolution not revolution in and around Potter St.. from red to blue.
I wish them a happy retirement.
I would like to put the record straight with regarding to the comment "you know who i am" towards councillor Mark Wilkinson, well I've known him for more years than your age 45 more or less and just talk to him about it, it's to do with safe guarding he said, apologies for any confusion it's just inosent banter, but these are the times we live in.
Well done Mark. Let's hope for the changes in May that allows Harlow to be red again not blue.
