Harlow Labour make 100 day pledge should they take power in May
Elections / Fri 19th Apr 2024 at 03:02pm

FOLLOWING last night’s hustings, kindly hosted by this publication, Labour is delighted to announce its 100 day pledge to residents of our town. This is our pledge of what we will have achieved within 100 days of taking office.
Harlow Labour are not just around at election time, we’ll continue to knock on doors and talk to residents after Thursday 2nd of May, ensuring we are the party that listens to residents and acts on their priorities.
If the finances are such a mess, how will you meet your pledge in 100 days. Can you increase the current council tax to do so, are you legally able to this? If not will you have to make emergency cuts. Because you are stating that the finances have a black hole, I presume you have access to the figures so how about telling us about them or are they " commercially sensitive" like Dan Swords' Burnt Mills flats.
God forbid.. you must think we have short memories.. haven’t got a chance in hell.👹
You employed apprentices with HTS the last time you were in charge of Harlow Council. And when they passed their apprenticeships , you did not give a lot of them jobs.
Bruce, wanna bet?
Save your money Trace
On apprentices or rather the lack of them, I would recommend reading this YourHarlow news story and my comment to it: https://www.yourharlow.com/2023/02/11/harlow-council-defend-114000-budget-saving-in-relation-to-apprenticeships/
100 parking spaces across Harlow won't make the slightest bit of difference. I doubt it will even be noticed.
What about all the wasted money on the town square and plant pots which ended up being giant waste bins with dead trees in them.
Woody, I think that people will be not voting cons at a local level, to send a message over how unhappy the country is run.
Turkey HTS/kier did indeed employ apprenticeship as you said but you are wrong in saying they did not offer them a job. Every apprentice that succeeded to pass their apprenticeship was given a job. Many are still working for HTS today.
David Forman while I was at HTS we employed 10 apprentices at times right up until the council turned blue. The Conservatives were totally against HTS at it's conception but changed their mind when they saw how much cheaper it was than Kier. Both management and the Unions were proud of our success with the number of apprentices we cultured into top class tradespersons and clerical staff, many have progressed to become managers today.
Is that it, is that the great plan by the Labour lot, haha that's the kinda plan I would expect from 10 year olds. Let's come up with a plan to do very little in 100 days, after that we can go back to Scargill land while we sleep. It's criminal you lot are even the opposing party.
More parking is needed, unfortunately it encourages more cars and more traffic which creates a demand for more parking until gridlock congestion is achieved. Better to provide free peak bus travel, park and ride hubs around the perimeter of the town, more direct cycle tracks, encourage the use of cargo, electric and pedal power bikes, provide secure bike parking and develop local hatches. Harlow was designed for walking, cycling and public transport. Currently the town is swamped by cars because Councils have become highly car centric and have ignored the opportunities provided by the fundamental design of the town. Currently we are on the road to more pollution, congestion and gridlock.
Nostradamus. Or as I like to call you Mr/Ms doom and gloom. The problem I find is so much antisocial behaviour going on in this town , I personally would not travel by public transport, its safer. You have a lot to say , why don't you stand as a Councillor, you seem to have all the answers.
James Gamble. I was working there at the time they let some apprentices go , you was my shop steward .
Turkey, we negotiated with Kier Management that for every three people that left the company we would replace one with an apprentice which continued until the Conservatives took over the council. Yes some apprentices were released for varied reasons and some efta of their own choice to get better money. But on the whole I am proud of our achievements.
So I was correct originally then Jim , it is funny how you did not agree with me until you knew I worked there. Weird That.
Between the pair of them nothing gets done , what about pot holes is that the new 100 parking places in cause never ever gonna be done , talk is cheap broken country broken promises just give up really who are they kidding lab, and con ,

You have my support in every election Labour.
We are a nation ran by fools left with only fools to vote for. It's like picking what kind of turd you want to pick up, ultra smelly cat poo that makes you heave or a massive load of Doberman dog poo. We just can't win. Our ancestors would never have put up with this kind of crap.
Firstly, every time this lot get control we get higher Council Tax, worse services, and excuses! Those who have been in Harlow a while, unlike Chris Vince, will remember headlines like "Shambolic" and "Shambolic 2" on the front cover of the old Harlow Star. They had years to do something about Parking in our estates - and failed! They get garage blokes decay and be areas for antisocial behaviour, failing to provide proper lighting to them making them dangerous at night. 100 spaces isn't enough in a single estate let alone the whole town. It needs a proper working party to go on an estate by estate basis. Something to be done about industrial vehicles too. As for potholes - this is a County issue and they have failed our town year after year and nobody has the backbone to take them to task. We collect Council Tax on their behalf - if I am on the Council come Annual Council - I will move a motion that we don't give them their money until they come to Harlow, fix our potholes and actual provide the service we pay for! That would get some action out of them! Mark Gough -Leader Harlow UKIP
Unless they say , we'll sod you lot then we won't bother to come at all. Talks cheap.
100 days achievement don't fool for that one( wot about if we don't achieve in 100 days we will all resign) Harlow labour only know how to waist money forget who is running the country local issues is wot matters in local elections and any counciler who gets elected should hold Essex councils to account for the state off roads in Harlow. start a reservice program do the job properly filling holes that only last for three months at most is only putting our council Tax down the drain 🤮🤮🤮
Five years it is since https://twitter.com/UKIPHarlow last tweeted. Mark Hough and your fellow quarterwits, kindly put a sock in it. If you knew how to use GOOGLE you wouldn't be so evil as to continue to promote this counterfeited ghastly "UKIP". Go to google.co.uk, search for UKIP. Click on NEWS. Then on TOOLS (fitting in your cases) and then change it to SORT BY DATE. Read (can you?) the first hundred or so, ignoring the ones about Nigel. Hopefully your crass and painful (to us) stupidity will become evident to you early on. Then put your apologies here, admit you've been Useful Idiots to thieves, and let's NEVER EVER HEAR FROM YOU FOOLS AGAIN. Clear?
At least the Conservatives bought the properties at the station roundabout, i think Labour would have let Newham council buy them and let more londoners in and not let the Harlow people that need them have them
But they left out point 4 4. Spend the first 100 days (and next 'x' number of years saying "it's nothing to do with us, it is all a left over from the previous administration"
Two years ago tony have 63.000.000.000 in the bank when it gone
