Harlow-based Hoddesdon Distribution goes into administration

Business / Sat 20th Apr 2024 at 06:18am

HODDESDON Distribution, which runs more than 20 trucks out of its Harlow operating centre in River Way, has entered administration.

Benjamin Wiles and Philip Dakin from Kroll Advisory were appointed to the haulage company on Wednesday (17 April) but neither were able to comment at this time reports Motor Transport.

The firm started in 1997 and grew from offering only transport services to providing storage as well from its 45,000sq ft warehouse.

It also had authority to operate 30 trailers.

Hoddesdon Distribution described itself as “leading experts” in pallet distribution and relied on regional hubs across the country.

According to its last set of available accounts, in December 2022 the company repaid its bank loan and entered into a new asset backed loan for £110,000 repayable in equal instalments over 48 months.

No-one from the company responded to a request for comment.

David,, If you took a little time to read what William said i think you will find he is suggesting turning the warehouse into one bed flats for people, don't be so critical of people when you do not know what situation they are in.

The last thing this town needs are warehouses being converted in to flats. We all know what happened when offices were converted in to flats.

ECC have just spent a fortune re siting their yard to make way for the pointless new junction! Complete waste of money!! Or maybe they were holding out until the site became more valuable?

This was not the cause of the pandemic..this was the cause when it was bought out by initially Aquila Group, who also owned UK Salads Roydon. Multi Million pound turn over companys bled dry within 2 years.. it's criminal what they did.. making all it's drivers and staff redundant and some forced to leave.. they need to be held accountable.. those that know will know..

This company was running for 25 years plus and was profitable until it was taken over by Aquila Food Group - a front for Opulentia Capital run by a band of total blood sucking criminals who have dissolved this company in 2 years after ownership. They didn’t care about the staff, company or industry they were serving, they have only served themselves, it’s a total disgrace. 5 on site staff have lost their jobs along with all the drivers. A big family run by utter scoundrels, all should be locked up. If you know you know…

As others have indicated, HDL were not at fault, they were a strong profitable business built by a group of hard working professional people who cared, and offered superb customer service. I know I represented a customer of theirs. When Aquilla bought them less than 2 years ago, they began asset stripping, and utilising HDL along w9th their other businesses to move assets around and gain credit ratings. Aquilla ruined a few strong local businesses without a care in the world for their customers or employees.

Well said Andy, HDL Will be sadly missed along with some of the fantastic customers who they built a strong relationship with, What a shame 🥲

Spot on Andy you got in a nutshell and we all know that in no time at all they will be doing this to more companies unless they are STOPPED

A great profitable business with exceptionally hard working staff. 25 years under the previous owner it made good profit, Then bought by Aquila Food Group (now also in administration), and its all over, along with, UK Salads, Switch International Trailers and TWT Logistics in Wales. its was planned to fail to fill the pockets of the "directors" they done it before, and they will do it again.

Bruce, insulting me again. Clearly you have not got anything better to do or anything useful to say on any of the subjects on these pages.

That's what you get when a holdings group run by Romanians takes over loads of different companies in a short period. HDL had a £880k government hand out before folding. Romania one of the most corrupt countries in Europe and UK firms sell out to them. Worst thing the UK ever done was open its borders to Eastern Europe.
