Labour’s Sir Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner visit Harlow to rally the troops on the eve of local elections

News / Wed 1st May 2024 at 05:29pm

THE leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer and the deputy leader, Angela Rayner visited Harlow on the eve of the vital local elections.

They came to Harlow Town Football Club where they were met by loyal Labour supporters from associations across the area.

It is clear that they are stressing great importance in the town and the chance for Labour to regain a council they lost in 2021.

Previous to that, they had held it since 2012.

Labour leader Chris Vince spoke first to the audience, suitably dressed in his Harlow Town football shirt.

There are 107 local council elections across the country but battlegrounds such as Harlow will be significant with the General Election expected in the second half of the year.

I think we can agree that we all want change BUT the question to ask is, who will make those changes and for the better? Is it labour? Being that Labour didn’t submit a council budget what are they wanting to spend our tax payers money on exactly? - rubber ducks?

To vote tory is to vote for more of the same corruption, lies, running down the country, ruining the NHS, picking on the disabled and those with mental health issues without being able to access any help in a timely fashion, masses more debt with nothing to show for it. Britain has become a laughing stock worldwide and is also being labelled as a cruel, nasty country with their recent actions. We are better than this, the only way we can show this is by voting today and in the general election. Get up and voting folk, if go in the morning it's before the rain starts too!!

Just watched the Chris Vince interview and he has stated, absolutely committed to the spend to the Conservative plan they brought in (which supports the Harlow regeneration plan) but make sure the money is there. Watch Dan Swords and he states the money is there. So no budget, no plan from Labour as we will use the Conservatives, therefore, my question is what will Labour 'actually' bring to make Harlow better if Chris has openly said Labour is absolutely committed to the spend to the Conservative plan they brought in (which supports the Harlow regeneration plan).

If there's no difference between Labour and Conservatives plans then given that the Tory plan will ruin the town. Then it's important to vote from other parties or independent candidates that have better plans and not to vote for either Labour or Conservative.

Fact or Fiction: you mean Harlow degeneration plan. The town centre resembles a bomb site, PAH is moving out of Harlow, Stort Valley going to be wrecked and traffic gridlock, town overloaded by Epping and East Herts development.
