General Election 24: Green Party candidate Yasmin Gregory ready to fight for your vote

General Election 2024 / Thu 23rd May 2024 at 07:38am

YASMIN Gregory, Leader of  Harlow Green Party was pleased to hear the announcement of a General Election on 4th July, made today by the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.

“We know that the people of Harlow want Green representation.  Since the last General Election, the country has seen a steady growth of the Green Party.

In May the Party gained 74 councillors at England’s local elections, taking its total tally to more than 800 councillors on 174 councils.   It is imperative that everyone in Harlow votes for who they want to be the next MP for the town. For those residents who chose not to vote (75% did not vote in the local election), for those who say they are not interested in politics, as Martha Gellhorn, the famous journalist and war correspondent said, ‘They might as well say, ‘I’m not interested in my standard of living, my health, my job, my rights, my freedoms, my future or any future.’

I am not a career politician, I am an ordinary person who could not stand by and say nothing about what is happening in Harlow.

“You have a Green candidate who is prepared to represent you in Westminster.  Now is the time to use your vote.”

Absolutely disingenuous to claim that you polled 25% of the vote share. On a generous interpretation, you polled 12%. Not a good start to the campaign when you’re already bringing out fake news.

Alex, the best Green result was in Mark Hall ward in this month's local election and was 19.57%. Election analysis provided by former Conservative councillor Simon Carter shows Greens getting 1946 votes in total, which is 10.7% of votes cast. Alex gets the prize for best guess.

To be fair to Yasmin she did say at the local election hustings "So, I get confused with all these numbers". She also said: "I don't understand all this money". See 12 second clip from 19mins, 39secs in on YourHarlow video available at https://youtu.be/G_NNNj4XKvE?si=vDpt_uDs7fbLpy1B

David Forman - the troll of Harlow politics. Completely taking what Yasmin said at the hustings. I certainly understood, maybe it's your brain struggling from all the keyboard warrior act you do. At the hustings she made it clear that amongst the squabbling of other parties and the hundreds of millions the conservatives brag of securing for Harlow she was yet to see any improvement. It was a matter of speech. And I completely agree. The Greens are the only party who stand a chance to dismantle the blue and red and bring change to this town! Their growth has been amazing since the single candidate a few years back. And where above does she claim a 25% vote share? Just online trolls making things up to discredit a woman who sacrifices alot to bring positive change.

The comment "They might as well say, ‘I’m not interested in my standard of living, my health, my job, my rights, my freedoms, my future or any future" Many of those who do not vote have seen that those decrease regardless of which person or party is in power. It is feudal lords (politicians and establishment class) and serfs the rest of us. Politicians are the ones who strip rights, increase taxes and even locked us for 2 years for a cold. Politicians are the problem and Yasmin is communist in like all green party members.

My vote will go to the candidate, not necessarily the party, most passionately committed to climate change, environment, animal rights pete

Adam, Please explain your comments instead of making empty statements, please provide evidence that the Greens are communist?... again, completed nonsense made up by (and I am sorry to say) an idiot... You can't just post online with things like 'all politicians are the problem' and expect anyway to think you have half a brain, know what you are talking about and hold any value at all when it comes to debating.

Have a real debate for once - lets see what politicians have done for us shall we. Failing public services, high house prices, covered up the post office scandal and the blood scandal, started illegal wars in Iraq and Libya. They panicked and locked down the country for 2 years then pushed a safe and effective vaccine which turned out to be anything but. How about allowing society to degenerate to the point that fathers are stabbed to death in parks and prisons are full so police are told not to arrest people. Does any of this sound successful to you? Then we have legal immigration which has added 680K people this last year, is there any wonder services are stretched because that would mean about 1200 new GP surgeries are needed plus the rest of supporting infrastructure. That is why services are collapsing as they have added more and more people the country without providing services. Oh and our financial system is utterly broke and our lunatic leaders want to start a war with Russia after their meddling started the Ukraine issue (go look at 2014 etc)

Have a real debate. Totally agree with you about Adam , he is a total idiot to say covid was just a cold . Ask the doctors and nurses who lost work colleagues who tended for the sick in the hospitals. Adam get a life .

Woody it was cold people die its life but those who had the best data on the virus partied as they knew it presented no real threat to most something the CMO said on Tv at the very beginning as well. Did some people die sure, people die and sometime your unlucky. But the cost of covid response was insane and caused way more damage than covid itself. Look now at the 7 M on the waiting list, kids mental health and the cost of living crisis. But hey clap for the NHS an institution more likely to kill you than fix you

The Green Party is against the traffic jams caused by Conservative-run Essex Highways Strategic Transport Corridors. So, if you like sitting in your car waiting to move, vote Conservative or Labour. Too many roundabouts will have traffic lights, and industry will move away as time is money. Harlow might get excellent bus service in 2032, but will there be any jobs to go to? If you want to have a say and do something about it, vote for the Green Party.

Perhaps the Stop Trolling commentator would like to reveal their true identity? I suspect a Green Party supporter who got rattled that someone remembered Yasmin's unwise remarks.

Regardless who I vote for you are a troll. Not once does Yasmin claim to get 25% of the vote as your 1st comment states. You just make things up time and time again to stir the pot of Harlow politics. We all see through you and your (most of the time) hateful comments...
