General Election 24: Labour’s Chris Vince says “It’s time for change” as General Election is called

News / Thu 23rd May 2024 at 07:31am

LABOUR parliamentary candidate for Harlow & the Villages has issued a rallying cry after Prime

Minister Rishi Sunak called a General Election today.

Chris Vince has described the General Election as a ‘chance to restore hope and pride in our country and our communities’, but warned that the result was anything but a foregone conclusion.

Reacting to the announcement of a General Election, Chris Vince said:

“The Tories have failed and it’s time for change.  Harlow is a fantastic place to live, work and invest in and now, more than ever, it needs an MP that can deliver for the people.

“Keir Starmer has changed Labour into a party that rolls up its sleeves and gets to work alongside people to solve the country’s problems.

“Only Labour has a long-term plan that will unleash a decade of national renewal. But the change we need won’t happen by itself. At this General Election we take nothing for granted. My team and I will work hard for every single vote until the polls close at 10pm on Thursday 4 July.”

Chris Vince lives in Harlow and is a Harlow councillor. He works for a local charity that supports

Young Carers having previously worked for a homeless charity and before that was a Maths teacher.

Mr Vince time to stand for something not just irrelevant nonsense taken from a pledge card. People don't want nice they want substance to radically change their lives and Starmer binned those policies a while ago. Does Mr Vince have the balls to challenge Starmer on following Tory policies for two years? I do not think so.

I thought you resigned after losing Harlow to the Tories? - Maybe if you submitted a reasonable Council budget you may have been in for a chance, but you didn't which was silly of you. When the local elections came and the counting had begun you walked out before the counting was even over that night and left someone else to comment on your behalf. This I find to be highly unprofessional on your part, you're supposed to be a councillor so act like one and stop throwing your toys out the pram every time something doesn't go in your favour...its politics! - Grow a backbone and move on for the better! Tell me how will Labour be any better than the Tories in Government? would it not be fair for a new Party to have a go? I don't know, like Reform UK maybe?

I'm afraid there is no difference between Labour and Tories - they are the same. After 14 years of opposition, when the country is crying out for change, Labour is offering more of the same - and are too scared of their own shadow to offer anything radical. The Liberal Democrats (yes we are the underdog) will provide the people of Harlow a different option in the ballot box.

Chris Vince appears to have learned his lesson from the local elections by not boasting that he will win. A little reminder from this February's council meeting when Chris Vince declared "When we Win" in relation to the local elections. I recommend watching a 16 second clip beginning from 27 minutes and 32 seconds in from the start of the council meeting video available in the link below: https://harlow.public-i.tv/core/portal/webcast_interactive/854100/start_time/921000?force_language_code=en_GB

I'm afraid Riad you are the same! You'll be hoping for some power in the event of a hung Parliament! Here in Harlow you have propped up both Parties and sold out all you policies and principles to do so! No-one who has been a student since 2010 will ever forgive you! As for Reform - couldn't get a single Council Candidate in Harlow or the villages in May! Mark Gough -Leader Harlow UKIP

Change: verb (used with object) to make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of (something) different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone: to change one's name; to change one's opinion; to change the course of history. It would be nice to have some honesty from Mr Vince as to how much his (Labour's) plans are going to cost the honest, decent, hard working people. You know those, the middle ground. Those of us who go out to work, pay our taxes, don't receive any form of benefit and who seem to be the first whose pockets are tapped to pay for all of these grand plans?

Heaven help Harlow if this man becomes the MP! Chris is all for himself has several of his councillors often tell people & he really won't make a good MP. He run away from a teaching career because he couldn't handle that & has shown on a number of occasions he doesn't like accountability! Just go & look at the local election hustings....useless!
