Paying tribute to Fathers at Parndon Wood Crematorium

Lifestyle / Tue 28th May 2024 at 07:47am

PARNDON Wood Cemetery & Crematorium is inviting people to visit to remember and pay tribute to their loved ones in honour of Father’s Day.

On Sunday 16 June – Father’s Day itself – between 10am and 12noon, there will be an open chapel, where people can enjoy peaceful periods of reflection and remembrance against a backdrop of soothing music.

If there is a specific song or piece of music that they would like to hear during the open chapel time, because it has special meaning to them, they can email their request to [email protected], putting Father’s Day Open Chapel Song Request in the email subject line. Submissions need to be made by 10 June.

While in the chapel, visitors will be able to light commemorative candles too.

Wild flower seeds will also be given out, either to be taken home or scattered in the crematorium’s Garden of Remembrance.

Parndon Wood Cemetery & Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 40 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

Westerleigh Group prides itself on providing exceptional care to the bereaved, the standards of which are inspected by the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities (FBCA) in England and Wales, and the Scottish Government.

Manager Joe Jaggers said: “Occasions such as Father’s Day can be particularly poignant for anyone who’s been bereaved of a paternal loved one.

“Our site provides the fitting and welcoming environment for anyone who is looking for a quiet place of reflection and contemplation.

“During their visit, guests can also leave a Father’s Day card in our Letters To Loved Ones memorial post box, which was installed several months ago to give people a feeling of connection with someone they can no longer be with.

“Regardless of whether they’re newly bereaved, lost their loved one a while ago, or where their funeral took place, our Father’s Day invitation is open to anyone who is looking for a place of comfort at this special time of year.”

A nice idea. I lost my father back in June 1975 and I still miss him. Time is a great healer, but you never forget.
