Chair of Harlow Council raises £18,000 to support local charities

AN amazing £18,000 has been raised for PACT for Autism and Plant Pots and Wellies after a range of events were held by the Chair of Harlow Council.

The money will be split equally between the charities after they were selected as the Chair of Harlow Council’s chosen charities for 2023 to 2024.

Councillor Andrew Johnson, who was re-elected last week as Chair of the Council for the third year in a row, has chosen Harlow Steel Band and Rainbow Services Dementia Support Network as his charities for the year ahead.

Not only a scrupulously fair Chair that is highly knowledgeable of the Council's Standing Orders, but also an ace charity fundraiser. No wonder I say councillor Andrew Johnson is the best Chair Harlow Council has ever had.

The best thing that can be said about Andrew is that no one has ever done two years in a row as Chair of the Council, let alone three! And there is not a single voice of decent at the decision either. I used to work with the young man holding the cheque in the photo, and delighted at the amount raised for PACT, and know how hard his parents work for that charity! Well done AJ, proud of you mate!
