Evening of events to commemorate D Day held outside Harlow Playhouse

AN EVENING commemorating the sacrifices made on the beaches of Normandy on June 6th, 1944 wa held outside Harlow Playhouse on Thursday evening.

The first part of the evening was marked by entertainment harking back to the forties.

At 9pm, a short ceremony led by the chair of Harlow Council, Cllr Andrew Johnson and with prayers led by Rev Darren MacIndoe.

Guests of honour were a number of armed forces veterans.

At 9pm, a ceremonial beacon was lit to commemorate all those who gave their lives and all those who served.

Hopefully the leader of the Conservative party stayed till the end. I cannot imagine a bigger put down to the heroes that gave their lives and those that risked their lives for this Nation. No apology is acceptable for such a snub.
