Harlow Cadets conduct speed checks with officers

Crime / Wed 26th Jun 2024 at 05:07pm

ON Wednesday 12 June, Harlow Volunteer Police Cadets were involved in speed checks on motorists on Tripton Road, Harlow.  Cadets were given basic training on use of the speed gun and were each given an opportunity to record the speed of passing drivers.  In total 10 drivers were identified as going over the 30mph speed limit and were given words of advice by both officers and the cadets themselves.

PC Emily Cross said: ‘The drivers that were spoken to were receptive of the words of advice and apologised for breaking the speed limit.

“Local residents were delighted that the cadets were able to assist with this initiative as they have identified that speeding drivers are making them feel unsafe on a regular basis’.

As a driver of many years I have often seen newly qualified drivers or young drivers driving at speed ignoring all safety for them or locals. Good job police cadets. Young drivers wonder why there insurance is high look at your speedo and speed limits that will give you the answer. And it not just young but older drivers Haswell mostly those with low iq
