RHIANNON Faith Company and Harlow Playhouse are thrilled to announce the Care Weekender 2024 – a weekend of free family-friendly arts and creative activities celebrating care and community.

The Care Weekender will run on Friday 2nd August (2 – 7pm), Saturday 3rd August (12 – 5pm), and Sunday 4th August (12 – 5pm) outside the Harlow Playhouse in Playhouse Square, CM20 1LS.

The Care Weekender will include family-friendly activities and craft workshops, a free community lunch table from Community Embrace, creative workshops from Hip Hop Pop Dance, Generation Circus and the Velo Artists, performances from Harlow Ukulele Band, Voices of Harlow Choir and Matipo Arts, and many more acts still to be announced! This year there is a new Self Care quiet zone where MIND West Essex will be running wellbeing activities and Luna Emporium will be offering guided meditations.

The highlight of the event will be a new dance film, Harlow Cares, created by Rhiannon Faith Company and Big Egg Films, in collaboration with local Harlow residents. The film is a joyful reminder of all the wonderful acts of care we experience in our community. The film will be played daily on the big screen, brought in specially for the Weekender.

The Care Weekender will also feature the premiere of a brand new outdoor performance The Care We See created and choreographed by Rhiannon Faith with a company of world class dancers. This new work will push the boundaries of dance theatre and spread the positive message of wellbeing and community care.

Rhiannon Faith says: “We are very excited to kick off our programme for Care in Harlow with our Care Weekender this Summer. We were overwhelmed with the response to the first Care House Project in 2022 and have been working with the local community to bring you a smashing weekend full of all the best things; music, art, food, fun, dance and togetherness. We are thrilled to be joined by brilliant organisations that work each day bringing care to our community. Let’s celebrate and shine a light on this brilliant town.”

Dave Hobbs (Care Weekender 2024 Steering Group member) says: “Caring matters and I hope that the Care Weekender will again shine a light on this much neglected element of everyday life.”.
