ACL Essex has recognised a learner from High Wych with a top award at a ceremony. The celebration event took place at Central Baptist Church, Chelmsford, on Wednesday 3 July.

The adult education provider’s annual awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions made throughout the academic year.

Learners, staff and apprentices received a range of awards. Over 40 awards were handed out on the day. The ‘Outstanding Achievement’ award recognises those who have made extraordinary progress throughout their learning journey. Meanwhile the ‘Going the Extra Mile’ award recognises people who put a tremendous amount of effort into their work and create a wonderful learning environment.

Cornelius Keating, from High Wych, won the ‘Lifelong Learning’ award at the celebration. This award recognises those who understand the true impact of learning on our lives. He said: “I’ve never had anything like this before, so it’s really nice to be recognised, but also to realise that I am achieving something and putting the effort in is worth it. I think I’m more adaptable to learning now than I ever have been. I appreciate the opportunity to learn. It’s been eye-opening; it’s given my life a lot more than I expected and I’m really grateful for it.”

Lisa Jarentowski, ACL Essex Principal, was thrilled to present these awards to the recipients. She said: “This is my second year presenting awards at our annual ceremony. It’s a pleasure to hand out these awards to our exceptional learners, staff and partners. It’s amazing to see all the incredible accomplishments they’ve achieved this year, it’s truly rewarding to acknowledge their hard work and success. Well done to everyone who received an award this year.”

ACL Essex helps learners step on and progress up the career ladder to achieve their personal and professional goals. The learning provider offers a range of courses, from qualifications and accredited courses to support for mental wellbeing and creative and cultural learning.
