Beacon lighting ceremony held outside Harlow Playhouse to mark VE Day 80

A CEREMONY was held on Playhouse Square on Thursday night to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
The ceremony was hosted by the chair of Harlow Council, cllr Andrew Johnson. Speeches were made by Rev Jokey Poyntz of Little Parndon Church, the managing director of Harlow Council, James Gardner as well as contributions from service veterans.
The ceremony culminated with a beacon being lit as part of a chain across the country.
