ROGER Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, has commented on the Comprehensive Spending Review announced today by the Government.
Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said: “Today’s Comprehensive Spending Review has proved disappointing.

“Working these figures through for Essex Police this settlement does not fully cover our existing projected deficit and the likely pay settlement for the current year.
“Our public want us to continue to reduce crime in Essex. To do so our police must maintain current strength, which means pay settlements and contractual increments must be funded. Essex Police has a strong record of finding efficiencies and will have to do so again. And again we will have to rely on local council taxpayers. This settlement will not provide the additional officers or investment in technology which we would need to deliver on the Government’s Safer Streets Mission.
“The Comprehensive Spending Review has not funded the financial reality facing Essex Police and it has not even mentioned the fire and rescue sector. We urge the Government to confirm the funding arrangements for fire and rescue services as soon as possible to ensure we have opportunity to consider impacts and make decisions.
“We will continue to work with partners to provide effective and efficient policing and fire and rescue services in Essex, but tough decisions will have to be made.”
We need our firepeople and police force to protect us.. I love our services in Harlow and I will blinking fight for all ,'Essec services.I don't care if I am castigated. They are integral for the safety of every person. That's important not just to Essex. But the whole company.xx
Stop flying the helicopter start using drones like you said about three years ago. You stated it cost £10,000 to launch the helicopter about three years ago. There are never any "ground troops" in the area when the helicopter is flying, with a drone at least one officer is near by.
I use Ai instead.Thats what it was designed for.
The question is: do we need a crime commissioner? I would suggest not because it is a political position with limited, or no experience of policing and its operations. The Independent Police Complaints Commission are responsible for overseeing the work of the police. And ultimately the courts and the Home Secretary.
Gary there are lots of management jobs that are just money eaters. Have you ever heard of the accountant that saved alot of money by re using paperclips.
I am hoping to go to the Novo lounge next week to try to help the lady buy the building for her Parenthood club. The only way to do it is DIY.
