HARLOW Town Pirates Walking Football teams played a further round of Essex Walking Football League fixtures in June.
As in the previous rounds, the best performances were recorded by the two Women’s teams.
In the Women’s Premiership, Harlow yet again extended their lead at the top of the table. They are now 16 points ahead and still remain undefeated after winning three matches and drawing the other two fixtures. They started with a 1-1 draw with Beacon Hill Rovers, before a win over Leyton Orient 2-0. They were then held to a draw by Billericay Town Blue before 2-0 defeats of Valley Green Rovers Diamonds and Romford Randoms Blue capped a god day for the Pirates.
In the Championship, Pirates got off to a great start with a 2-1 defeat of Romford Randoms Red, but could then only draw their next three games against Beacon Hill Rovers White (1-1), Billericay Town White (0-0) and Hawkwell Athletic (0-0). However, they finished the day strongly with a 2-0 win over Valley Green Rovers Emerald. This meant that they kept their second place in the League, with Hawkwell stretching their lead further to 10 points, but Pirates are 11 points ahead of the third team.
The Men’s Over 60s, playing in Division 1 endured another poor day in mid-June. Their first match ended with a 0-1 defeat by Blackmore Athletic. Improvement was shown in the second match which ended a 1-1 draw with Eastwood Falcons Blue, before two further 0-1 defeats at the hands of Billericay Town Blue and Eastwood Falcons Yellow. These and the other results on the day mean that Pirates remain 9th of 10 teams, 2 points behind Southend who lie in 8th place.

The Men’s Over 65s in Division 2 had a tough day, with two of their matches against the first and second teams in the division, but they can be proud of their performances. They started with a 1-2 defeat to the topside Leyton Orient Red, but then improved to record a 1-1 draw against Leyton Orient White, before holding the second placed team, Chelmsford City Blue to a 0-0 draw.
However, the day’s other results, meant that Pirates slipped another place to 7th of 8 teams, however, they do still have a game in hand on most of the other teams and are only one point below the team above them.
