Police put Dispersal Order across Epping on Thursday

A DISPERSAL order will be put in place tomorrow to ensure our community in Epping is safe says Essex Police.
The order, which is in place from 2pm on Thursday 24 July until 8am on Friday 25 July, covers an area including the town centre and transport hubs and networks such as the tube station.
It gives our officers the power to direct anyone suspected of committing anti-social behaviour, or planning to do so, to leave the area or face arrest.

Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow said: “We have identified a small group of people who are intent on committing anti-social behaviour which is not acceptable.
“Where there has been previous protest activity, we have seen sustained anti-social behaviour in addition to any disorder that we have dealt with during the protest itself.
“This order will not prevent lawful and peaceful protest, but ensure people are safe both during and after the planned activity.
“We are also considering the use of other powers available to us to ensure people can carry out their democratic right to protest safely.
“Our message is clear – if you’re planning to come to Essex to commit crime or disorder, don’t bother. You will be dealt with.”
Epping council will not allow drone flying without permission but it appears the Police have got the secretary of state to issue a ANO around the Bell excluding the Police, https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2025/895/pdfs/uksi_20250895_en.pdf
Good morning Jarrett - I'm struggling to see what the issue might be with the police using drones? - Please tell us
I don't really have a problem with the police using them but they are used by the press what concerns me is what if anything do they not want us to see, and no i do not have a tinfoil hat!
There is probably lots they don't want us to see. Countrywide there is so much they don't want us to know or see.
Does that mean that the residents of Epping and the local surrounding areas will not be allowed to gather to peacefully protest? I take it that all those others who are arriving by tube, bus or cars, from outside the Epping area, will be stopped and told to return to whence they came. It’s not much use allowing these outside protesters into Epping, then trying to then disperse them. That’s when the trouble starts.
Stuart, What was a peaceful protest with residents showing home made placards turned into a cock up when the police escorted them to the site with all the normal pre-printed cards and banners, did the police not realise what would happen? yes they too have the right to protest but somebody in the force needs to be writing a resignation letter.
Is the dispersal order to prevent government-housed nuisances from molesting young girls?
I'd imagine it covers that too James
