Princess Alexandra Hospital issues guidance over parking arrangements as visitors continue to face fines

PRINCESS Alexandra Hospital (PAH) has published a page on their website to help visitors and patients navigate their way around the car park.
YH continues to get readers confused and angry having been fined for parking.
A PAH spokesperson said: “We hope that patients and visitors understand that we need to charge for car parking with a tariff structure to help manage demand and ensure we can meet the costs of maintaining the car parks.
Free parking arrangements are in place for registered Blue Badge holders, parents/guardians who need to stay overnight with young people in our care; for patients that need to attend for appointments or treatments on a regular basis, and other exemptions. Please refer to the car parking tariffs and exemptions and concessions sections for The Princess Alexandra Hospital below for more information.
There are 433 car parking spaces available for patients and visitors at The Princess Alexandra Hospital, including 41 Blue Badge holder bays, 12 drop-off bays and three motorcycle bays.
“There is a very high demand for parking at the hospital, so we recommend you plan your journey and leave plenty of time to get here”.

As a disabled person it's a ridiculous move from what was the established system where your blue badge was registered with security for the life of the Blue Badge. Under the new system Blue Badge holders still get free parking but have to find a pay point to scan their badge sometimes this involves long walks to a pay point and then a long walk back to their vehicle No thought of how this effects vulnerable groups
