UK government set to test Emergency Alert system
Harlow Council / Thu 4th Sep 2025 at 09:22am
THE UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm.
Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action.

The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there’s a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency.

I will be turning my phone off (or placing it in a Faraday's cage) for that duration as I really cannot be bothered with it. It's just another means of spreading panic to the masses, just like the UK media already do !!
Mr Grumpy. It literally says it's a test, there's nothing for you to be scared of 🙄
David, I'm not scared but many others out there will be, hence "panic to the masses"
Mr Grumpy. No they wont, because everyone got a text about it. Calm down.
Mr Grumpy stop being scared
If anyone is concerned, there are multiple resources on how to turn this alert off using your notifications settings, google and others are your friend.
Seamus, there's nothing to be co corned about....your phone will make a noise and that's it 🤣 why are people so scared of everything these days?!
Concerned*
Seamus stop being concerned
