PROTEST in Harlow to End Greyhound Racing. Full details below.

Amazing work and I urge people to show support to help end this barbaric and outdated sport that is being banned around the world. I’m an adopter of a discarded grey racer and a second arriving at the weekend, and they are the most gentle souls and deserve love not exploitation.
Great initiative! Keep going
They are beautiful dogs, very loving, great pets , they need very little exercise, which I couldn't believe.. why is it barbaric? The owners and trainers love the dogs , they eat well get lots of rest, and the retired greyhound rehoming is a charity.
Are you actually serious these greyhounds are at no risk at all the sport is very well vetted and safe for all greyhounds . There will be many families and children at the race track your actions are disgusting. Leave the sport alone let the families enjoy the events just like horse racing and any other sport
Think about the numbers. Six dogs per race, 12 races, that is 72 dogs per meeting. Multiply by the number of meetings each week. What will happen to them if racing is stopped? The rehoming kennels are full to bursting point. Tens of thousands more dogs looking for homes. When they are racing they are pampered, when they retire at around five years old, all they want is a warm home, a sofa and love. Do you want all these beautiful dogs put to sleep?
Thank you for your comment Peter. Greyhounds are indeed beautiful dogs, but sadly, when you explore the backstory of the greyhound racing world it hides a tragic history of pain, suffering serious injury & death. The hidden truth of severe cruelty & exploitation is revealed from their birth, to training to racing & being shot when injury means they are no longer financially useful to the owner. I hasten to add that not every owner trainer is included in this statement. Yes there is an amazing rehoming programe for greyhounds & indeed there is a fantastic team who work with Harlow track to help rehome the retired dogs whom we are extremely thankful to. Please do have a look at the Animal Aid website where all is explained. You would be welcome to come along this evening to find out more.
Hilarious comment from Jay. ‘There will be many families and children at the race track your actions are disgusting.’ The same people bringing children into an environment of gambling, drinking and watching animals get injured has a problem with the people peacefully standing outside. I am begging you to do some critical thinking here Jay.
Jay you will obviously be ignorant to the cruelty behind the 'fun' that the spectators experience, & thats not your fault. However, Im sure if you investigate the cruelty you will understand & acknowledge that the sport of animal racing is wrong on every level. Horses & dogs are injured or worse die at a lot of the races & hence the need for a vet at each race meet & a freezer at each track for the dead dogs!
The greyhound racing industry is so barbaric. It's just profit and entertainment at the cost of the dogs, resulting in a system characterised by high risk of injury, long-term confinement, and the routine disposal of thousands of healthy or treatable dogs who are no longer considered profitable. Greyhounds confined to concrete cages with hay or shredded paper beds, rotten teeth and broken spirit - that's the definition of owners and trainers inside the industry. We have seen many countries banning this barbarity over the welfare of the dogs. They have clearly stated that matter how much welfare you put into it, the racing has an inherited high risk of death and injuries. Is this worth it for the sake of betting and entertainment?
Well done for the hard work! BAN GREYHOUND RACING.
Hey GreyLove! Who said that banning greyhound racing the dogs will be put to sleep? What about the thousands of dogs currently stuck in the trainer's kennels deemed by the industry not suitable for rehoming? Do you think of them?
Anita Vic. What do you suppose will happen to all those dogs if racing is banned? The very few unsuitable for rehoming are usually sponsored at a rehoming kennel. I am sure that thousands of people won’t be coming forward to rehome all these healthy hounds. I have two at home, neither of them has been abused or damaged during their careers.
Is this I crime then to take children to a family event I believe you to be very deluded Sophia .
Just ban any "sport" that involves animals. Job done :)
I have been part of be he sport for over 30 years and never ever come across so many arrogant deluded individuals . Not only as an owner and trainer and a key figure in the rehoming making sure these dogs get homes they deserve . Are you asking for football to be cancelled or any other sport because all sports have injuries / Maybe you should focus more on criminals than a sport that brings enjoyment to families . Just because you have your opinion doesn’t give you the right to protest . I’m the TR of greyhounds and will back this sport to the hilt .
Oh please!! Thats laughable!! Anyone who plays football would obviously do so of their own volition & wouldnt be forced to run around the field. What would happen to a greyhound who refused to leave the trap during a race meet? He's not a money maker if he refuses to run? Where does he end up? And by the way, yes we do have a legal right to peaceful protest.
Nice to see so many people support the protests LOL poor showing just goes to show that the governments decision last year to support greyhound racing is where the future for the sport is . Now it’s time you cast your minds to something else that is affecting the world . I have many animals absolutely love animals and if for one minute I thought these were being forced I would back your corner however I would suggest you have one day In a racing kennel see how there are fed cleaned groomed even before setting if to the track . They are the happiest animals going and racing is something they love . Injuries can happen in any walk of life well done for failing miserably contact me if you ever want to have a day at the kennels
