VOLUNTEERS from London Stansted’s operations team rolled up their sleeves to give the garden at the Jacobs Neurological Centre in Sawbridgeworth a much-needed revamp.

The team spent the day clearing overgrown areas, tidying paths and borders, and helping create a more welcoming and enjoyable space for residents, staff, and visitors.
Their efforts were supported by a £4,000 grant from London Stansted’s Community Fund, which provides financial support to local charities and organisations delivering projects that benefit the community. The funding will be used to install new picnic tables,
fencing, trees, and bushes to make the garden more accessible and enjoyable for everyone who uses it.
Nick Millar, London Stansted’s Operations Director and one of the volunteers on the day, said:
“Our teams are always keen to get involved in projects that make a real difference to the local community. The Jacobs Neurological Centre does incredible work supporting people with complex neurological conditions, so it was a privilege for us to lend a hand
and help enhance their outdoor space.”
Sheila Henderson, Chair of Friends of Sawbridgeworth Neuro Centre, added:
“On behalf of everyone at the Centre, we’d like to thank all the airport volunteers for their hard work. They achieved more in a day than we could have done in a month, and we’re so grateful for their support.”
The volunteering day formed part of London Stansted’s wider community outreach programme, which supports schools, charities, and local organisations through volunteering, donations, and education initiatives.
Employees are encouraged to offer their time and skills to strengthen ties in the communities where they live and work.
The airport is always keen to hear from local organisations, charities, and schools that may need help with a project.
