London Stansted welcomes Kevin Sinfield as he flies to Cork for latest stage of MND fundraising challenge

Charity / Wed 3rd Dec 2025 at 08:36am

LONDON Stansted was proud to welcome rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield and his support team on Monday (Dec 1) as they travelled through the airport ahead of the next stage of his latest fundraising challenge for the motor neurone disease (MND) community.

Kevin and the group arrived by coach in the early evening and were given the VIP treatment on arrival. The team was taken through Fast Track security, ensuring a smooth journey through the terminal. They then spent time relaxing in the Escape Lounge, where they were able to rest and prepare for their onward flight.

The group departed Stansted on the 20:05 Ryanair service to Cork, continuing Kevin’s 7 in 7: Together challenge, a demanding series of seven ultra-distance runs across seven regions in seven days, each including an extra mile where members of the MND community join him.

This year’s challenge focuses on communities that can sometimes be overlooked by major events, ensuring people in each location feel supported and recognised.

On Monday, Kevin completed the East Anglia leg of the run from Bury St Edmunds to Ipswich in tribute to former Ipswich Town striker Marcus Stewart, who is living with MND.

On 2nd December, the team continue in Cork, paying tribute to Irish broadcaster Charlie Bird, who supported Kevin in 2023, and former rugby league star and Munster coach Paul Darbyshire.

Kevin Sinfield said:

“I would like to say a big thank you to all the team at Stansted for their support on our journey to Cork on Monday. Part of our challenge, as well as clocking up the miles running on the road, is the logistics of moving between our locations and the backing from everyone at Stansted made sure that was as smooth as possible.”

Paul Garnett, Car Park and Ancillaries Director at the airport, said:

“We were honoured to support Kevin and his team as they travelled through Stansted. His commitment to raising awareness and vital funds for the MND community is inspiring, and we were pleased to play a small part in helping the team reach their next destination.”

Six MND charities, including the MND Association, MND Scotland, and the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, will benefit from this year’s fundraising. For more details visithttps://donate.giveasyoulive.com/fundraising/kevin-sinfield-7-in-7-together-challenge
