HARLOW shone bright this evening as thousands gathered on the newly renewed Broad Walk for Harlow Council’s free-to-attend Light Up Broad Walk event, officially marking the start of the town’s festive season.

The high street was transformed into a winter wonderland of music, lights, and community spirit. Local performers and interactive artists captivated audiences of all ages, while the spectacular LED Sparks! drummers brought the night to life with dazzling rhythms and electrifying displays. From the first beat, Broad Walk was alive with warmth, joy, and the unmistakable spirit of Christmas.

As the countdown reached its climax, the switch-on moment revealed a enchanting scene: the Christmas lights came to life, casting a magical glow across shopfronts, faces, and the brand-new public space.

If this event is a glimpse of what’s ahead for Harlow’s town centre, it is bright indeed.

Commenting on the event, Cllr Dan Swords, Leader of Harlow Council, said:

“Harlow is back for Christmas, and tonight’s Light Up Broad Walk is a shining example of how we’re Building Harlow’s Future. It’s about transforming our town to bring our community together, inspire pride in our town, and celebrate all that Harlow has to offer – and the magic we’ve seen tonight is just the beginning.

“I hope thousands of residents will also come to our Christmas Markets next week to enjoy the full festive experience.”
