Police issue appeal after M11 at Harlow closed for several hours following serious road traffic collision

THE M11 was closed for several hours on New Years Day and into January 2nd following a serious road traffic collision.

The collision occurred on the north bound section between Junction 6 (the M25) and Junction 7 (Harlow).

At the same time, there was also a collision on the sountbound stretch.

The road was cleared by 0300 hours.

We are awaiting a further statement by Essex Police.

Update: The M11 northbound has fully reopened between J6 (#M25) and J7 (#Harlow) following an earlier serious collision. Delays clearing well in the area. Have a safe journey.

Update: Details of diversions

The M11 in Essex is closed northbound between J6 (M25) and J7 (Harlow) due to a serious collision where a car has left the carriageway and has overturned.

Emergency services including Essex Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.

Diversion Details

Northbound traffic is being diverted via the solid diamond diversion symbol

Exit the M11 northbound J6 via the interchange link road onto the M25 anti-clockwise.
At J25, exit the M25 anti-clockwise, at the roundabout take the 4th exit onto the A10 Great Cambridge Road.
Continue on the A10 for approx. 7 miles and then take the exit onto the A414.
Continue following the A414 until the Hastingwood interchange. At the interchange, take the 1st exit to re-join the M11 at J7.

ESSEX Police are appealing for information following a serious collision on the M11.

One vehicle – a blue Nissan Almera – was involved on the northbound carriageway between Junction Six for Epping and Junction Seven for Harlow shortly before 7.40pm today (Thursday 1 January).

The road is likely to be closed while emergency services respond to the collision and investigate what has happened.

There was a less serious collision on the other carriageway at around a similar time but we believe that was a separate incident.

Please avoid the area if you can and if you saw what happened or have any dashcam footage we need you to contact us.

I saw a kid doing wheelies on an electric bike on the road leading to junc 7a of m11 doing at least 40..50 mph and going around the roundabout at an angle of 45 degrees on a slightly greasy road.Madness
