TYPICAL household energy bills will fall by 7% in April, regulator Ofgem has announced, following a shake-up in charges by the government reports the BBC.
Nearly everyone in England, Wales and Scotland will benefit from a cut irrespective of their tariff, although the amounts will vary between households.
For millions of households on variable tariffs governed by the price cap, the drop will be about £10 a month for those using a typical amount of gas and electricity.

Good, a step in the right direction at last..
Another time they think people are idiots. The same thing happened this time last year as people are turning off their heating and using less going in to summer. I will lay money on, about October they will have to raise them again just in time for winter when people need to use more. THIS IS NOT A SAVING, UNLESS THIS GOES THROUGH WINTER AS WELL WHICH IT WON'T
Yes by putting it on your tax bill. they think we are fools. And with reporting which just regurgitates gov propaganda its no wonder.
They "give it to you" in April because spring summer starts so you use less heating and your bill drops naturally but gives the impression the government "gift" is responsible for the drop in bills.
That wouldn't be because weather is better. Freeze us again in the winter.
