The Bouncy Castle Tragedy: Ten years on, remembering Summer Grant
News / Sat 28th Mar 2026 at 02:21pm
ON this weekend, ten years ago, seven-year-old Summer Grant lost her life in what became known as the bouncy castle tragedy.

We won’t dwell on the events of ten years ago but rather reflect on today.

At the memorial bench in Harlow Town Park, flowers have been laid by family and friends.
This morning, a short tribute was made at Harlow parkrun, as the runners pass by Summer’s bench on three occasions.
Summer is very much part of their parkrun family.

We are sure that everyone is thinking of the family.
We are also thinking of the emergency services as well the Pet’s Corner staff that day.
We think we all just wanted to let Summer Rachel Grant, who would have been seventeen now, that, on this bright spring day, that we haven’t forgotten about her and we never shall.
Thoughts go to her family. R.I.P.
