Rugby: Harlow finish off year in fine style

HARLOW Rugby Club finished off 2019 in fine style with a thumping win against Ilford.
Within minutes of the start, centre Jake Hobbs found space to score his first of three tries.
Full back Jack Almond then made a weaving run from his own half passing to supporting winger Dale Stalley to score Harlow’s second.
Within 15 minutes Harlow found themselves with a 26 point lead. Ilford’s forwards made a spirited fight back and a driving maul rewarded them with a try.
Harlow applied the pressure again .
Ilford had no answer to Harlow’s attacking play. Tries from Alfie Clark, Dake Stalley, Will Garner and a third try from Jake Hobbs ensured Harlow had a dominant 54 – 7 point lead at half time.
The second half saw Harlow continuing to play festive attacking rugby. Back row Will Garner ran the length of the pitch to score his second and Harlow’s ninth try.
A further four tries from Harlow secured the victory.
With the reliable kicking of fly half Rik Hobb’s, the home side achieved their best win of the season with a final score 94 – 7.
Before the game, Harlow’s Christmas president’s lunch managed to raise £450 for Harlow Food Bank.
