Letter to the Editor

Sir,

Can you believe anything you read in The Harlow Sun?

MANY residents across the town will have received the Tory Party’s Harlow Sun through their door over the weekend.

An article on page three gives the impression that the removal of seven green field sites on which homes were to be built, in Harlow Labour’s Local Plan was because of the objections raised by them at Council meetings in the past.

The Tory Party know full well that it is only because The Harlow Alliance Party took the trouble to hold public meetings at many of these sites, organised petitions signed by hundreds of residents and formally objected to the Government appointed Inspector which allowed us to participate in the formal examination of the Local Plan where we objected to eight sites being built on which has led to six sites being removed from the Plan with a seventh being excluded as well.

Earlier claims by the local Tories that libraries had been saved from closure, when it was the Tories at County Hall that were proposing to close them in the first place, local Tory candidates and Councillors bemoaning the plans of the Tory controlled Epping Forest DC to allow thousands of homes on Harlow’s borders and most recently showing concern for families forced into homes converted from offices as a result of Tory Legislation all suggest, to borrow a phrase from Labour … Never trust a Tory!

Nicholas Taylor
